Pricing for the Online Editor

Posted by Ben on May 15, 2026

Pricing has come up a lot since we announced v2, so we're glad to finally share where we've landed.

Two plans for the Online Editor, both one-time purchases per domain with lifetime updates throughout version 2.

  • Free — included with Elements. For personal sites and small projects. All Elements CMS components, the WYSIWYG Online Editor, one content folder, one resources folder, one user.
  • Solo — $99 per domain. For individuals running their own site. Unlimited content and resource folders, version history with rollback, custom frontmatter fields, sub-folder support.
  • Studio — $199 per domain. For agencies, client sites, and power users. Everything in Solo, plus unlimited users with role-based access, whitelabel theming, an MCP server, an AI writing assistant, webhooks, and a JSON API.

Both prices are one-time payments, per domain. No annual renewal, no monthly subscription, no recurring charge of any kind. Pay once, and every future update to Elements CMS 2 is included.

You can find out more about these features, and compare plans, on the Elements CMS homepage.

What's in each plan

The free version comes with every Elements CMS install. You get the components, the WYSIWYG Online Editor, one content folder, one resources folder, and one user. Enough for a personal site or a small project.

Solo ($99) lifts the limits: unlimited content and resources folders, version history with rollback, custom frontmatter fields, sub-folder support, and a few advanced editor features. Aimed at individuals running their own site.

Studio ($199) is for the heavier use cases. Two groups in particular: people handing off to clients (unlimited users with role-based access, whitelabel theming to match the client's brand) and power users who want to automate or integrate the CMS with the rest of their workflow (MCP server, AI writing assistant, webhooks, JSON API).

Full feature comparison is on the homepage.

What stays free

To be clear: the components are free, always. The Online Editor's free version is also genuinely complete for a single-folder, single-user setup, not a stripped-down trial. Solo and Studio are upgrades for when you've outgrown those limits or want more power.

The free version will be included in Elements. Solo and Studio licences are available when you're ready.
